Viola lessons are offered to students of all ages and levels, Vivace Music Academy offers a comprehensive viola curriculum individualized to each student’s needs while incorporating core principals.
Our amazing Viola faculty take care in utilizing different teaching methods for each student’s needs.
Beginning students start with the fundamentals including correct bow hold and finger placement, rhythm, reading music and learning simple songs.
Advanced and experienced students continue to progress with high-level techniques such as bowing skills and scales, eventually mastering complex repertoire and more.
Our goal is to deliver the finest and best viola lesson in Palm Beach by exposing you to a variety of repertoire and technique with professional highly qualified teachers, and many of them perform regularly with local SouthFlorida Orchestras. We highly recommend our students to bring their own viola or you can rent/purchase program in a month or two at our Academy.

WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR VIOLA LESSONS?
That question is often asked by prospective VIOLA students. Our VIOLA teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.
We do not treat every VIOLA student the same in terms of what and how we teach.
A seven-year-old having their first VIOLA lesson will have very different needs than a fifty-seven-year-old taking up VIOLA for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child.
The main reason to choose the Academy as your VIOLA lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every VIOLA student is an individual.
If you enroll here for VIOLA lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your VIOLA teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START VIOLA LESSONS?
VIOLAs are quite affordable, and they come in different sizes accommodating the smallest students (ages 3-5). We highly recommend to our students to bring their own VIOLA on their second class, should they choose to enroll in the Academy.
We will be introducing a rental/purchase program at our Academy in case you don’t own yet a VIOLA.

We teach all styles from classical, jazz, pop, country, and blues.
ARE YOUR VIOLA INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED?
Our VIOLA teachers and music instructors have received their education from prestigious institutions from all over the world such as Peabody Conservatory, Miami University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Lynn University and Florida Atlantic University. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the US, Latin America and Europe and have over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level.

We do not have long-term contracts, and you can always terminate your contract by the 15th of each month.
ABOUT THE VIOLA
The viola is a string instrument that is bowed or played with varying techniques. It is slightly larger than a violin and has a lower and deeper sound. Since the 18th century, it has been the middle or alto voice of the violin family, between the violin (which is tuned a perfect fifth above) and the VIOLA (which is tuned an octave below).[2] The word viola originates from Italian. The Italians often used the term: “viola da braccio” meaning literally: ‘of the arm’. “Brazzo” was another Italian word for the viola, which the Germans adopted as Bratsche. The French had their own names: cinquiesme was a small viola, haute contre was a large viola, and taile was a tenor. Today, the French use the term alto, a reference to its range.The viola often plays the “inner voices” in string quartets and symphonic writing, and it is more likely than the first violin to play accompaniment parts. The viola occasionally plays a major, soloistic role in orchestral music. While the viola repertoire is quite large, the amount written by well-known pre-20th-century composers is relatively small. There are many transcriptions of works for other instruments for the viola and the large number of 20th-century compositions is very diverse

Pre-twentieth century viola players of note include Carl Stamitz, Alessandro Rolla, Antonio Rolla, Chrétien Urhan, Casimir Ney, Louis van Waefelghem, and Hermann Ritter. Important viola pioneers from the twentieth century were Lionel Tertis, William Primrose, composer/performer Paul Hindemith, Théophile Laforge, Cecil Aronowitz, Maurice Vieux, Vadim Borisovsky, Lillian Fuchs, Dino Asciolla, Frederick Riddle, Walter Trampler, Ernst Wallfisch, Csaba Erdélyi, the only violist to ever win the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition, and Emanuel Vardi, the first violist to record the 24 Caprices by Paganini on viola.
